Newark, Del. (October 4, 2010) – The Food Bank of Delaware named Lewes-based company Pixstar as its Community Supporter of the Year on Saturday evening at its fifth annual Blue Jean Ball.

The Community Supporter of the Year award recognizes an organization that has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to the Food Bank of Delaware and its vision of creating a community free from hunger.

Over the past year, Pixstar Inc. has donated 816 pounds of food, volunteered for more than 100 hours, provided school supplies for 300 local students, funded a mobile food pantry, volunteered at three mobile pantries, walked in the Food Bank of Delaware's Anti-Hunger Parade, donated a laptop and chairs for the organization's Milford branch and put together Easter baskets full of goodies for families in need.

"Pixstar has gone above and beyond to help alleviate hunger in the First State," said Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe. "Because of their commitment and support, they help to make our job of feeding close to 242,000 Delawareans a bit easier. We are so thankful to have them as a partner in our fight against hunger."

"The Pixstar team has found the Food Bank of Delaware and its mission to be a very practical and compelling cause," said George Reissig, Pixstar CEO and a member of the food bank's board of directors. "Since our company became involved, staff interest and support have grown organically. We are grateful for the recognition we have received, but humbled both by the need that exists and by the dedication shown by so many other food bank volunteers and staff."
